Rocktail Beach Camp is offering South African residents special rates for a 3 night stay. This special Scuba diving package includes 4 dives at Rocktail Bay, a world renowned dive site. Situated in South Africa’s iSimangaliso Wetland Park, formerly known as the Greater St. Lucia Wetland Park, Rocktail Beach Camp is an incredible destination with 40 km’s of pristine Indian Ocean coastline.

Rocktail Beach Camp offers world class scuba diving and excellent snorkeling, the reef systems are amongst the most pristine in the world, boasting healthy soft and hard corals. Not only is the diving conducted within a reserve and World Heritage Site along unspoilt and pristine reefs, but Rocktail’s guests have the luxury of knowing that they have exclusive access to these spectacular sites. The warm waters of the Indian Ocean provide fascinating diving and snorkeling year round. The summer time is filled with whale shark sightings and pregnant ragged tooth sharks while winter is the season of the humpback and southern right whales. The gentle giants of the ocean, the whale shark are often sighted and present the diving experience of a life time. With a fully accredited dive centre at the camp and resident dive master, Rocktail Beach Camp is an obvious choice for a scuba diving holiday.

Rocktail Beach Camp is accessible with a 2x4 wheel drive vehicle and is about a 6 hour drive from Durban and 3.5 hours from Richards Bay. Guest’s in non 4x4 vehicles can leave them at a safe drop-off point at Coastal Cashews where they are then transferred to the lodge by 4x4. The main lodge area is spacious and airy, a comfortable lounge area lies alongside an open plan bar with a large wrap-around veranda. Leading off the veranda is a raised wooden deck with expansive views that extend out to the Indian Ocean. Rocktail Beach Camp also has a large swimming pool for those guests who do not want to swim in the ocean.

The luxurious yet affordable beach accommodation at Rocktail Beach Camp consists of 9 tented rooms, 7 family suites and 1 honeymoon suite. Each unit is set on a private elevated wooden deck and has wide gauze windows, an airy en suite bathroom with an open-feel indoor shower, polished wooden floors and overhead fans. The family suites have 2 bedrooms suitable for 2 adults and 2 children and a shared bathroom. The honeymoon suite boasts a wonderful view over the dune forest and Indian Ocean. A maximum of 34 guests in camp, children of all ages are welcome.

Each year Rocktail Bay hosts a natural spectacle that has remained unchanged for thousands of years. From around mid October until mid March hundreds of Loggerhead and Leatherback turtles complete their breeding cycle and emerge from the Indian Ocean to lay their eggs on this stretch of coastline. From around mid January until the end of March hundreds of hatchlings emerge from the nests, they are counted, notched and weighed before they scurry their way down to the sea. Guests can join the conservation officials on their night patrols and witness this amazing wildlife spectacle, which many people have described as a life changing experience.

• Boating 6 years
• Scuba diving in the swimming pool 8 years
• Scuba diving in the open sea 10 years
• Canoeing or kayaking 12 years
• Quad biking 12 years (at the discretion of the parents)
